This grey cast iron foundry was built in 1962 as a part of the state enterprise TOS Čelákovice, a leading producer of machine tools. The foundry was modernised in 1987 and the old, outdated moulding shop was replaced by automatic casting and compressed air moulding technology from BMD Karlsruhe. TOS-MET s.r.o., was established in 1994 and purchased the whole foundry operation from the original owner. Between 1994 and 1995 it started wide-ranging investment activity aimed at completely modernising the foundry and making it environmentally friendly. It acquired technology for blasting castings, a new electric, medium-frequency melting shop was built, some operations were de-dusted, and technology for producing and distributing compressed air and sand management was introduced. The investments enabled an increase in total output by 40% and also an increase in the quality of castings.
The company has obtained an ISO 9002 quality certificate.
